I just read an interesting blog post which I followed up with a bit more research. From Scientific American, Minnesota is planning “to add a carbon fee of between $4 and $34 per ton of carbon dioxide emissions to the cost of coal-fired electricity, to begin in 2012, to discourage the use of coal power; the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions.”

This effectively places a tariff on North Dakota energy products which are coal-based. What this also does is pits one state against another as North Dakota is going to counter with legal action. Continue reading »

good for the goose…

Wow…an amendment proposed by Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma to require the Senate health committee to enroll in “ObamaCare” once enacted was voted down by Democrats on that committee. Only three of the thirteen Dems voted FOR the proposal: Sens. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut and Barbara A. Mikulski of Maryland. All the Republicans on the committee, except for New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg, voted for the amendment.
